Fashion on Friday – Love this Pattern!

I’ve been feeling very unfashionable lately. I’m in a serious rut. Working on it.

I got a new dress recently at Target. It has an amazing pattern and I love the details on it. It will definitely be one that will see me through all the seasons.

I’ve also been making some fun little pendants out of Scrabble letters (I look for old Scrabble games in thrift shops). Great for gifts.

Pi Day was on Wednesday, I’ll be doing a post about that soon and St Patrick’s Day is tomorrow and I have some yummy plans for that.

Summer Uniform

So I really haven’t posted many outfit pics this summer. I’ve pretty much worn shorts & a t-shirt most days. It is what it is. I just don’t have a lot of inspiration when it’s very warm. Maybe that will change, maybe it won’t. I don’t want to abandon my love of fashion just because it’s warm, but comfort takes precidence most of the time.

This is my favourite outfit of the summer – these shorts & this shirt. I wear them a lot!

Pattern Recognition

It’s Everybody, Everywear time again. This month’s theme is Pattern Mixing. I love the idea of pattern mixing, but I don’t do it much. I tend to think that I don’t have many patterns to mix, but I have more than I thought.

I’ve been watching Mad Men lately since it’s streaming on Netflix. While I baffle at our culture in those days, I adore the fashion & design. I feel like I’m channeling a bit of that era with my pattern mixing outfit.

Thrifted Paper Doll

So today is both Everybody Everywear Thrift Edition & the Paper Doll Project. I was teamed up with the lovely Bekah from Matters of Merrymaking. I gave her a dress to style that I thrifted, but hadn’t worn yet. I was at a bit of a loss as to what to do with it despite the fact that I love it – the print is great. I am so happy with how she styled it. I wouldn’t have thought to wear it this way at all, but I love it. It’s so comfortable. Why do I always think belts are going to be uncomfortable?

With the addition of the belt & the heals, the skirt got a bit short so I am wearing shorts to protect the eyes of the innocent. I love this outfit! Thanks Bekah!

Memorable Moments

I love this necklace. One of my favourite things now. I blogged about making it here. It’s pennies from the years that my husband & I were born, an English two pence piece from the year we were married in London & pennies from the years my sons were born. Love it so much!

Pretty casual outfit, good for running around town, taking pictures of my Dad for his book cover, meeting a friend in the park for lunch.

Summer Style?

An outfit post! Yes, I’m still wearing clothes this Summer, just having trouble coming up with blog-worthy outfits. It’s all about staying cool. I love the sleeves on this top. I think I got it on clearance at JC Penney. I like clothes with interesting details. These capris are pretty much my Summer staple so far, but every time I look at photos of them, I don’t think they are particularly flattering. I’m thinking about turning them into shorts. Just need to get at my sewing machine again – there are several things I need to alter.

How’s the Weather Up There?

This is the debut of another pair of shoes that I haven’t worn before. I got them before my buying fast, but haven’t worn them yet. They are pretty darn fabulous. It’s a different world 5 inches higher up! They are actually comfortable although a bit heavy. I wore them all day & at the end of it, I had apparently pulled a little tendon or something in the back of my foot from hauling these babies around! Guess I need to build up my wooden heel wearing muscles.

Brown Around Town

I love this top! I got it at Ross years ago & it’s definitely vintage-inspired. Super comfortable too. I don’t wear a lot of brown, but I couldn’t resist the colour combo & the great pattern. It’s nice to have something to wear my only pair of brown shoes with too.

Pastel Goodness

I’m not usually a big fan of pastels on myself, but I love these two vintage necklaces that I thrifted along the way. This outfit was vintage inspired & super comfortable for running errands with the boys. My Blowfish shoes are so comfortable – I can wear them all day & they are fab. I love it when style & comfort co-exist.
